neighborhood overview

As the name suggests, it is atop a hill on the north side of Spokane, within which it is centrally located and crossed by numerous major thoroughfares. It is home to parks, commercial districts and single family residential areas. The historic Garland Theater is located in North Hill, and the city's main north–south arterial, Division Street, is home to a major commercial district along the eastern edge of the neighborhood.  Largely residential, North Hill is popular for department stores, a strip of boutiques and casual eateries. Families gather for picnics and barbecues around the sports fields and splash pad in Franklin Park. The area also encompasses the Garland District, known for its old-school diners and the 1945 Garland Theater.

The North Hill neighborhood draws people who want to live in a, well-established neighborhood, with many peaceful, quiet streets, unique older homes, reasonably priced housing options, and walkable destinations. Other reasons people choose to live here are proximity to work, neighborhood shopping, parks, and schools. Yards and houses are kept tidy and neighbors watch out for and take care of each other. A diverse mixture of families and single people of all ages live here, including many who are characteristically easy-going and casual. Neighbors greet each other while working in their yards and occasionally get together for neighborhood activities like basketball games, yard sales and children’s playdates.
